Let's Chat: Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're new to Emma Parker Photography or you've been here for every part of the journey (here's the abridged version for the newcomers), there are a few questions I get asked regularly. From what to wear the day-of a shoot to when you get to lay your eyes on the photos, here are a few deets your curiosity's been craving.
{o n e} Do you have a second shooter?
I rarely have someone else photograph with me. I have worked to polish my technique and directive skills to ensure that as one shooter, I am able to achieve my goal of capturing all important moments for my client. However, I have started to train my fiancé and she will be assisting me on future shoots when a second shooter is necessary. She's such a natural, and as a team, we nail it every time.
{t w o} Do you scout the location beforehand?
If it is a location I am familiar with, I do not typically scout the location prior to the shoot. The key to getting a great shot is all in the lighting. If I have excellent lighting, I can guarantee a fantastic shot. That is why creating a timeline prior to a shoot is so important. If a client really wants me to scout the location beforehand, I will always accommodate. When it is a new location for me, I am always sure to give myself additional time beforehand to check out the area and get my creative vibes flowing.
{t h r e e} What type of shoots do you do?
Anything from commercial shoots for businesses to the "big day." I love photographing a variety of subjects. I am always on the lookout for things that inspire me and being able to work with different people, atmospheres and locations does just that. I am always open and willing to try new things that allow me to continue to grow in my craft.
{f o u r} When do I need to pay the deposit?
A 50 percent non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking of the photo session.
{f i v e} When do I get to see my photos?
As with most projects, I try to give my clients their photos within two weeks of their shoot. I always post a sneak-peek within 24 hours of the event. (It's for you but it's also for me because I GET SO EXCITED.) I take pride in having a quick turnaround for my clients.
{s i x} Where are most of your shoots?
Most of my photoshoots are on location. If it's a portrait shoot, you can almost always find my clients and I in the Short North, at the Park of Roses, or wandering the brick streets of German Village. I'm always up for finding new places... so if you have somewhere in mind, lemme know.
{s e v e n} I'm out of town. Will you travel outside of Columbus?
Absolutely! Traveling is another love of mine. I'd love to photograph you wherever you are. I've photographed weddings and commercial shoots in Colorado, Cape Cod Massachusetts (above), Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, Cleveland and Cincinnati.
{e i g h t} Do you shoot film or digital?
I bring my film cameras on specific shoots, but those serve more as a growth opportunity for me as a photographer and less as a deliverable for you. And, if I have extra time, I use my Mark diii (digital) for the day. Film can be risky and I want to make sure there are no complications with your photos.
{n i n e} When is final payment due?
Final payment is due the day of the shoot. However, most people pay that week or the week before. Paying before the actual shoot can help elminate the nuisance of remembering to take care of it that day.
{t e n} Once I receive my photos, can I order a wedding album or canvas prints?
Absolutely! I make custom wedding albums and can provide you with a variety of sizes for canvas wraps. My goal is to help preserve your big moments for years to come. Wedding albums and canvas prints are beautiful ways to do this. We will work together to create the perfect look that will keep your special moments alive for a lifetime.
